TOGETHERNESS
I knew him once, when life was partly spun:
the threads that were allotted us blew near
and wrapped - I thought - together. Still I hear
the lie that we could never be undone.
Through intertwining, do we grow estranged,
in mingling selves, we count each self well lost.
Who now can say which one has paid the cost
when both, unrecognised, have so far changed?
